NICK 

Senior Instructor

Nick is a rising sophomore studying at American University.  During his four years of competition, Nick championed the IHSA State Tournament, was a finalist at the Yale Invitational Debate Tournament, and placed third at NSU’s “Sunvitational” Tournament.  As a coach, Nick has coached 5 national finalists in this year alone, including the winner of the 2022 Middle School Harvard National Tournament and the winner of the 2022 Middle School Tournament of Champions.  Nick is excited and proud to be coaching the champions of tomorrow!

JUSTIN

Senior Instructor

Justin, a graduate of Northwestern University, has coached competitive speech since 2016. During his high school speech career at Scarsdale High School in New York, Justin was 2016 NSDA Champion in Original Oratory, a 2-time New York State Champion in Extemporaneous Speaking, and a 3-time finalist at the prestigious Tournament of Champions, also in Extemp. In college, he was the 2018 AFA National Champion, to go alongside 5 national final round appearances. Additionally, Justin captured 2 state championships and 2 Big 10 titles as captain of Northwestern’s speech team. As a coach, he has coached dozens of state and national finalists in multiple speech events. Youth Voices is beyond thrilled to welcome Justin aboard to our coaching staff!

SUMEER

Senior Instructor

Sumeer has been teaching competitive debate since 2011. He has a Bachelor's in Philosophy from Emory University. From 2011 to 2015, he coached the Buffalo Grove High School debate team in Lincoln-Douglas and Public Forum. During this time, he coached multiple finalists and a Lincoln-Douglas State Champion in 2013. Since 2016, Sumeer has been coaching youth debate and competition classes for grades 4-8, including multiple finalist appearances from his students. Most notably, he has coached Youth Voices President Zachary Wu, the reigning ICDA State Champion, in Lincoln Douglas Debate.

Jimmy

Junior Instructor

Jimmy is a senior at Naperville North High School, and serves as co-captain of his debate team. He's been doing congressional debate since freshman year, and during his career, he has:

  • Championed the 2021 Barkley Forum Emory University Tournament

  • Placed 4th and won the Finals Leadership Bowl at the 2021 Harvard Tournament

  • Finaled at the Illinois Congressional Debate Association Tournament of Champions

  • Semifinaled at the Tournament of Champions, Yale, Florida Blue Key, and Sunvitational 

As a captain, he helped lead Naperville North to the 2021 Illinois State Congressional Debate Championship, as well as to No. 1 team ranking in the nation. He’s excited to bring his years of experience competing and leading at the highest levels of debate to helping out students!

Hemanshu

Junior Instructor

Hemanshu is a junior at Naperville North High School. He has competed in Congressional Debate for two years in the local and national circuit. Among his many accolades are: 

  • 2021 IHSA State Finalist

  • 2021 ICDA TOC Finalist

  • 2021 Harvard Quarterfinalist

  • 2021 Tournament of Champions Qualifier

In his free time, Hemanshu enjoys baking, spending time with friends and family, and trying new cuisines. Hemanshu is excited to work with the future of the debate circuit!

JONATHAN

Junior Instructor

Jonathan Wu is a senior at Naperville Central High School. Among his many accolades are:

  • Quarterfinalist for the Tournament of Champions (2021)

  • Quarterfinalist at the Harvard Tournament (2020, 2021)

  • Finalist at the Sunvitational (2021)

  • 3 best PO, 2 first place speaker awards and 4 2nd place speaker awards in ICDA

ANNIE

Senior Instructor

Annie has been involved in speech and debate for over a decade. She currently coaches part-time for the Cornell University and Northwestern University speech teams. In college, she was the President of the Bradley University Speech Team and won the National Forensic Association National Championship in Impromptu Speaking. She has spent many summers as part of the Public Address Lab staff at the Bradley Summer Forensics Institute, where she coached several high school students who later advanced to final rounds at IHSA and NSDA.
